In Rochester, coffee shops cluster around downtown offices, college campuses and the main commercial streets of residential neighborhoods, and the independents usually close by mid-afternoon while chains stay open into the evening. Across New York, drive-thru coffee stands and kiosks fill the gap in suburbs and along highways, and roasters often sell bags and brewing gear at the counter. Check the listing for hours, whether the cafe takes mobile orders, and its Google rating and recent reviews; parking is easiest at suburban locations, while downtown shops rely on street meters or nearby garages. Loyalty programs are common and worth joining if you are a regular.

Rochester is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Rochester follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Well. My breakfast (sausage, egg, mozzarella on a plain bagel) and muffin were delicious. My cappuccino, in a mug, was HUGE, and perfect. I gave the atmosphere a 4/5 because the music was too loud for me and not anything I wanted to listen to. But, I only gave it a 4 because you either have to give a 4 or 5. I would give it a 4.9/5 were it an option. Great food, great coffee and I would gladly go back. Thanks!

I haven’t felt more accepted and part of the community than when I step inside equal grounds. They make me feel included and never like I’m being judged. I’ve never seen a place that not only has amazing drinks and great food but the people who work here go above and beyond to make your experience extra special!

The BEST coffee shop in Rochester! Breakfast sandwich was served on a fantastic bagel, dirty spiced chai was delicious, and I found two great pieces of clothing on the secondhand rack in the back- what doesn't this place have?? Can't wait to come back!

Used to go to this place weekly without fail. After they changed management they removed a huge majority of the queer representation and art and replaced it with poorly painted pictures of anime characters to the tune of upwards of $150. The food just isn’t good anymore. Neither is the coffee. It somehow always feels sterile and dirty at the same time. I could stand it when it was outwardly and loudly queer owned and operated. It felt like you were supporting a good cause. Now it feels like this is trying to leech off years of good will from the community that built the initial business up. Tl;dr It feels like ChatGPT tried to recreate the Equal Grounds everybody loved and missed the mark. If you want to buy paintings of anime characters maybe go? Otherwise skip :(

Equal grounds is such a cute and convenient location! I stopped by here this morning with my mom and ordered the spring bunny special latte. I’m a sweet drink lover, however, this one was a bit too sweet for me. I do know that the barista had said that she can make them less sweet - which if I have the ability to come back in the future, I may take them up on it. My mom ordered the dirty spiced chai with a shot of espresso and it was unreal. It was literally a snickerdoodle cookie in drink form. This drink easily earned a 10/10 rating. As for the Easter special, I would most likely lean towards a 5/10 or 6/10 just based on my preferences. It definitely earns extra points for aesthetics and a peep on top! I also loved the fact that you’re able to sponsor a β€œpay it forward” meal for someone who may need it. I purchased a grilled cheese and chips for someone who may need a warm meal in the future. You tell the barista and you’re able to pick what you want to order for someone and then put it on the cork board in the front of the restaurant. It’s a great opportunity to give back to others! The aesthetics and kindness of this place is so warm. It feels comfortable sitting in the atmosph

The staff was very friendly and the drinks were delicious. The Decor was homey, but it definitely needs some minor improvements such as fresh stain on the floor. Looks a bit shabby. Especially since the walls look recently painted. That aside, I love the subtle touches like the cute changing password for the WiFi and the tip suggestions. I think they should go all out with humour. Definitely a great safe haven for the lgbtq+ community. Must check it out if you’re visiting the area.

The food and coffee at this cafe was always amazing - but recently, they have renovated the indoors and it looks bomb! I went to school in Rochester for four years and we would sometimes come here for a late night hot cocoa, dessert, and games or a weekend breakfast. They used to have old chairs, tables and couches, slightly worn out. I went to visit a friend in Rochester and we visited the cafe again - instantly loved the new look! The staff is very hospitable and friendly. They are a LGBT safe space cafe promoting inclusion which makes my heart happy! It is a great place to work out of or play board games with friends.
